Architectural Lighting
Hotel Vera is a perfect blend of contemporary luxury and historic wonder, located in the heart of Ballarat, Victoria just an hour outside of Melbourne.
Our lighting design has been a key element in revealing the real architectural beauty of the building. Our team carefully detailed and coordinated the lighting throughout the hotel to celebrate its past while accentuating its future.
Each suite in this boutique hotel is unique, calling for customised lighting in each area to create a special experience for guests. The lighting is warm and moody by design, allowing guests to be transported to a peaceful stay in this beautiful regional town full of relaxation and comfort, well clear of the busy streets of Melbourne.
A highlight of Hotel Vera is restaurant Underbar, which is located at the center of the hotel. Headed by Michelin-trained chef Derek Boath, Underbar is a premium 14-seat fine dining destination that offers an intimate, open-view encounter immersing guests in an unfounded dining experience that will leave you yearning for more. Surrounded by reflection ponds and nestled within a dense planted side garden, Underbar features a large timber pendant overhead with integrated track lighting and small brass spotlights that focus on the large island bench. The lighting design not only adds to the ambience of Underbar but also accentuates the surrounding greenery, making it a perfect spot for evening drinks or a romantic dinner.
Hotel Vera is a perfect example of how lighting can be used to enhance the overall aesthetic of a building while also preserving its historical character, creating an attractive destination for both locals and tourists.
Our design uses a consistent colour temperature of 2700K throughout the hotel, which creates a welcoming, comfortable atmosphere and has a significant impact on the guests' experience, making them feel more at ease and comfortable throughout their stay. The use of a consistent colour temperature throughout the hotel also helps to create a cohesive design aesthetic, where warm light creates a seamless transition between different spaces and helps to unify the hotel's overall design.
Casambi is used throughout the hotel, allowing staff to select scenes for different experiences with motion sensors triggering certain lights as guests explore the hotel and grounds.
Overall, the lighting desgin at Hotel Vera brings this heritage building to life and helps to prefectly merge the new with the old, while also creating a relaxing destination in regional Victoria.
